Vinegar Hill is defined by quiet Belgian-block streets, historic townhouses, and former industrial buildings along the Brooklyn waterfront. 288 Water Street sits within this intimate setting while remaining within walking distance of DUMBO’s restaurants, shops, waterfront, and cultural destinations.
288 Water Street draws on ideas of balance, simplicity, restraint, and connection to nature while responding to the scale of the Vinegar Hill Historic District. A white porcelain façade is composed around individually scaled windows, with vertical ipe wood elements introducing warmth at street level. At the entry, a glass-enclosed Japanese Zen garden creates a quiet focal point between the lobby and lounge.
The eight residences range from approximately 1,600 to 2,500 square feet, with no more than two homes per floor. Every residence includes private outdoor space, while interiors pair wide-plank European white oak, custom millwork, large-format Schüco windows, and a restrained palette of natural stone and wood.
